SDG Award, Class Rep

I chose Florida Universitaria for its innovative approach, which includes an integrated project at the end of each academic year. This model allows you to practically apply all the skills acquired throughout the year. This stage represents my first formal contact with the world of software development.

I started working with PHP, a language that, while not everyone's favorite, remains highly relevant today since a large portion of the web still uses it. In parallel, I learned JavaScript. My professor's insistence on building programming foundations in two different languages simultaneously was a valuable lesson: the technology itself isn't always what matters most. We shouldn't cling to a specific tool, since in a constantly evolving environment, it's essential to know how to adapt and choose the most appropriate solution for each context.

The fact that one language was the main one in the frontend world and the other a strong example of backend development allowed me, from the very beginning, to clearly understand the differences and particularities of both environments.

During the first year, I acquired skills in content structuring through markup languages, solid foundations in databases using the entity-relationship model, and proficiency in tools like Git. Additionally, in the Computer Systems module, I was able to demonstrate my interest in the history of computing, earning honors.

In the second year, we focused on architectures like the Model-View-Controller pattern and worked with our first frameworks: Symfony on the backend, a classic from which many current frameworks have derived, and Angular on the frontend, which has continued evolving and accompanied me in my subsequent professional life. I also learned key design concepts: color psychology, typography, spacing, and perspective, with a special focus on accessibility, something I consider fundamental. I also had my first contact with tools like Docker and cloud services such as Amazon EC2.

During this time, I was unanimously elected class representative by my classmates, despite not having put myself forward for the role.

As my final project, I developed Mil.Una, a web application to raise visibility for a non-profit organization focused on the socio-labor inclusion of women. The project was recognized as the winner of the 4th SDG Awards edition, receiving the highest score in criteria such as technical quality, contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals, and practical viability.
